HTTPS as baseline
HTTPS has been a lightweight ranking signal since 2014 and is now table stakes. Mixed content warnings, expired certificates, and incorrect redirects from HTTP cause both ranking and trust damage.
Redirect configuration
Every HTTP URL should 301 to its HTTPS equivalent in a single hop. Chains through www and non-www variants waste crawl budget. Pick one canonical hostname and enforce it consistently.
Headers worth setting
HSTS to enforce HTTPS. Content Security Policy to limit injection risk. X-Content-Type-Options to prevent MIME sniffing. None are direct ranking factors, but a hacked site loses rankings comprehensively and these reduce that risk.
